Dr. Tom Theeuwen
Research Fellow
Tom distinguishes himself in the ability to use genetics to generate new insights in photosynthetic functioning. During his PhD he developed and used a novel method to study the contribution of organellar genetic variation to photosynthetic phenotypes. This made him realize how powerful genetic variation can be to answer fundemental questions in how photosynthesis operates in different environmental conditions.
Now, he works as a Research Fellow at the Jan IngenHousz Institute. Here he leads the group that focusses on how genetics can be used to identify in which environmental conditions photosynthesis limits yield. Fitting with the core principles of the Jan IngenHousz Institute, he aims to do this using an interdisciplinary approach.
