Fabian Schmitz, MSc
Research Assistant
Fabian obtained his master’s degree in biology with a major in Molecular Biomedicine from the Heinrich-Heine-University in Germany and joined the Jan Ingenhousz Institute in early 2024. As a research assistant, he is collaborating with Thekla von Bismarck on her project investigating the regulatory connection of photosynthetic light reactions with downstream metabolism. Before joining JII, he assisted in developing FRET sensors to measure molecular crowding in living cells. Fabian's expertise lies in protein chemistry and aggregation with interests in metabolic pathways and the contribution of crucial protein interactions in those pathways.
